Material Inspector

A Material Inspector is a quality assurance professional who ensures construction or manufacturing materials meet exact specifications, safety codes, and approved standards. They prevent defective or incorrect items from being used by verifying shipments, reviewing compliance documentation, and overseeing field testing. 

Key Responsibilities

Document Verification

• Material Approval Requests (MAR): Confirming that materials have prior approval from the engineering team or client.
• Delivery Notes & Batch Tickets: Cross-checking quantities, manufacturers, and batch/serial numbers with project specifications.
• Mill Test Reports (MTR): Authenticating mechanical and chemical properties to prevent counterfeit materials. 

Physical Inspections

• Incoming Quality Control (IQC): Inspecting deliveries for transit damage, correct dimensions, and compliance.
• Traceability: Ensuring the materials used match the exact tags, labels, and tracking records.
• Storage Conditions: Verifying that materials (e.g., steel, cement, glass) are stored securely and protected from degradation.

Testing & Compliance

• Sampling: Collecting physical samples from bulk deliveries (e.g., soil, concrete, asphalt) for laboratory testing.
• Non-Destructive Testing (NDT): Witnessing or performing on-site tests to ensure quality and prevent project delays
