A Brief History

Al Nasr is one of Doha's older inner-city fereej (traditional neighbourhood quarters), which took shape as the capital expanded outward from its historic centre and port during Qatar's oil-driven urban growth in the second half of the 20th century. As the city grew, the district filled in with villas and low- to mid-rise apartment blocks, evolving into a dense, mixed residential-commercial quarter. It is also home to Doha Clinic Hospital, widely cited as Qatar's first private hospital, which reflects the area's long role as an established part of the central city.

Architecture & Character

The built environment is a low- to mid-rise mix rather than a high-rise skyline: standalone villas and gated compound villas sit alongside apartment buildings offering everything from studios to four-bedroom units. The neighbourhood's spine is Al Nasr Street, also called Al Mirqab Al Jadeed Street, a lively commercial strip lined with restaurants, barbers, tailors and shops.
