A Brief History

Erkiyah is one of the districts of Lusail City, the large planned coastal development north of Doha that was first announced in 2005 and led by the state-backed developer Qatari Diar. As Lusail's residential zones were rolled out through the 2010s and into the 2020s, Erkiyah took shape on the city's northern side as a predominantly residential quarter. It was conceived as a mixed-use district that balances homes with commercial and medical facilities and generous open space, with its layout intended to reduce internal traffic and congestion.

Architecture & Character

The district is characterised chiefly by contemporary low-rise villas set among landscaped streets and green open areas, giving it a more spacious, family-oriented feel than Lusail's high-rise cores. Alongside the villas, mid-rise residential apartment buildings—often grouped under the "Al Erkyah City" cluster—add apartment living with shared amenities such as pools, gyms and parking. The district runs along the Al Khor Coastal Road on the northern edge of Lusail, placing it within easy reach of the city's commercial boulevard and marina areas while retaining a quieter residential atmosphere.
