Hep B Problem
Just would like to share an experience regarding Hep B test. Ive been working in Doha for 3 years now and eventhough Im in the Medical field I got scared bringing my wife here for good because of her medical condition....she's Hep B positive.
Thought it will be the end of everything. Dreams started to shatter. Hopes grew dim. Dont know where to find answer to my querries til I found QL forum. Ive read through lots of thread regarding similar medical conditions and I never felt alone as I read every entry.
Because of this new information coming from people with first hand experience- I gained momentum to pursue or try to bring my wife here for a visit.
She came through a visit visa ( I was advised to try it that way because she doesnt need to undergo Medical exam back in my home country). She arrived early part of this month. I arranged for everything and even searched for people/contacts/ wasta at medical Commision who can help me all the way through.
The time has come, blood was extracted last Sunday as well as Xray. Prayer became our weapon. Hope is not fading. Whatever the results...it'll be for the good of my family.
Now, the moment of truth came. We were advised earlier that SMS will be sent to notify us of the result after 3 days. Those days past but no SMS received. A friend advised us to go there and to check it personally. I was so nervous all the way through til one by one ...getting from one room to another to get the stamp/approval.. ALAS! It's all approved. We were advised to go to CID for finger printing. Wheww! what a relief! No need of "wasta" afterall. God is really great!Twas a rewarding experience and without QL forum...I may have not gain enough courage to take my wife here. Now, were just waiting for Sunday for the QID.
Next target- getting my kids RP and I know it will be a lot easier now.

botheredhubby ...While I'm so happy for you ...While I'm so happy for you and your wife, I need to ask how she passed the test, was she on medication already and cured before the blood test? I know a case that was cured right before the test and she passed in the UAE.

hi salam ...She's still with the disease. We have'nt done anything. It's just I heard that if she's only for RP thru family visa Medical Commission will not check it UNLESS the person applying is on working visa esp in a service oriented work.
Its still not curable but there are some advances with treatment but still not experimental or early stage of developing a cure. Do you know of someone we can contact or somebody who specialized in this disease?

botheredhubby ...I wish your wife the best of health. I'm hopeful for a medical breakthrough for a permanent cure for this disease.
Thanks much for your clarification, all I know about this disease is that it's incurable –at least for now- but your main post with what my other friend told me, I started questioning my low education in this area.
I'm so sorry, I have no personal contact with any specialist in the field, and even the one doctor in my immediate family is in another field.
Wishing you and your family all the best.
Salam
