Ashghal Completes Over 80% of Project to Build 14 New Schools

The Public Works Authority, Ashghal, has completed more than 80% of a project to build 14 new schools under the second package of the Qatar Schools Development Programme.

HE Eng. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Meer, President of Ashghal, inspected the project’s progress and directed the teams involved to complete the remaining work according to the approved schedule while maintaining high standards of quality, efficiency and commitment.

He reaffirmed Ashghal’s commitment to delivering more projects through public-private partnerships, supporting the private sector’s role in national development in line with the Third National Development Strategy 2024–2030.

The project is valued at approximately QAR 4.5 billion and includes 14 schools across 10 areas: Muaither, Al Gharrafa, Al Wajba, Al Thumama, Ain Khaled, Al Aziziyah, Al Mashaf, Rawdat Rashid, Al Sakhama and Rawdat Al Hamama.

Together, the schools will accommodate more than 10,000 students.

The project is being implemented under Ashghal’s supervision in cooperation with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.

Under the partnership agreement, UCC Holding is responsible for designing, building, financing, operating and maintaining the schools for 25 years. The facilities will then be handed over to the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in good operating condition.

The project includes the use of 3D printing technology in selected structural sections of two schools. Modular construction techniques, including prefabricated structures and units, are also being used to accelerate delivery, improve construction quality and precision, and reduce material waste and on-site work.

Around 70% of the electrical and mechanical materials used in the project, along with steel, glass and several other construction materials, are locally sourced.

The schools have been designed in accordance with local and international standards and incorporate modern approaches to the design and development of educational facilities.
