Aspetar to host live orthopedic surgery masterclass in Doha on September 19

Doha-based Aspetar Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Hospital will host the Aspetar Orthopedic Masterclass: “Live Surgery and Multidisciplinary Insights” on September 19, 2026, bringing together orthopedic surgeons, physicians and healthcare professionals for a full day of advanced surgical education.

The accredited masterclass will take place at the Aspetar Auditorium and will also be available online, allowing healthcare professionals from outside Qatar to participate remotely.

More than 140 sports medicine and healthcare professionals from Qatar and around the world are expected to attend.

Live surgeries and expert discussions

The program will feature live orthopedic surgeries, expert case discussions and interactive Q&A sessions designed to give participants practical insight into real-time clinical decision-making.

The masterclass will cover both common and complex sports-related orthopedic conditions involving the knee, shoulder and ankle.

Topics will include:

• Meniscus injuries
• Multiligament knee reconstruction
• Shoulder instability
• Ankle instability
• Multidisciplinary management of sports-related orthopedic conditions

The format is intended to combine surgical demonstrations with expert discussion, allowing participants to observe procedures while also exploring the clinical reasoning behind treatment decisions.

Supporting advanced sports medicine education

Dr. Khalid Al Khelaifi, Orthopedic Consultant and Director of the Visiting Surgeon Program at Aspetar, said the masterclass reflects the hospital’s commitment to advancing surgical excellence and sharing expertise with healthcare professionals in Qatar and internationally.

He highlighted the value of combining live surgical demonstrations with multidisciplinary discussions, giving participants the opportunity to observe clinical decision-making in real time while learning about developments in sports orthopedics.

The program also aims to strengthen collaboration between specialties and support improved patient care and outcomes.
