Katara Opens Entries for 10th Quran Recitation Award

The Cultural Village Foundation "Katara" has opened entries for the 10th edition of the Katara Quran Recitation Award under the theme "Beautify the Quran with Your Voices".

Applications opened on August 3 and will be accepted until September 30.

The award aims to discover and support talented Quran reciters, identify distinguished voices and promote recitation in accordance with the established rules of Tajweed.

The judging panel consists of six members. Three are specialists certified in Quranic recitations and Tajweed rules, while the other three specialise in vocal maqamat and the quality and beauty of the voice.

Katara will also produce a complete recording of the Quran recited by the first-place winner at its studios.

The award offers prizes totalling QAR 800,000. The first-place winner will receive QAR 500,000, while the second-place winner will receive QAR 200,000 and the third-place winner QAR 100,000.

The General Endowments Department at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs has served as the award’s official sponsor since its launch in 2017.
