Qatar U20 Handball Team to Face China in Final Friendly Before Asian Championship

Qatar’s U20 handball team will play their final international friendly against China on Monday, as they conclude preparations for the 19th Asian Men’s Junior Handball Championship.

The tournament will be hosted by the Chinese city of Suzhou from July 15 to 27 and serves as a qualifier for the 2027 IHF Men’s Junior World Championship in North Macedonia.

The Qatari delegation arrived in Suzhou on Friday, with the players holding their first training session at the handball sports complex.

The session included technical and physical work aimed at helping the squad adapt to the tournament conditions.

Salem Mohammed Al Dosari, Manager of Qatar’s junior and youth handball teams, told Qatar News Agency that the team held a varied training session after arriving in China.

He said the friendly match against China will give the technical staff an opportunity to assess the players’ readiness and evaluate their levels before the start of the competition.

Al Dosari added that there are no injuries in the squad and that all players are ready for the continental tournament.

He said the team is looking to achieve positive results, compete for the top positions, reach the decisive rounds and challenge for the title.

Qatar will begin their campaign against South Korea on July 15 in the preliminary round.

The team will then face the UAE in a Gulf clash on July 16 before concluding their first-round matches against Japan on July 17.

Qatar will be aiming for a strong start in the Asian championship and one of the qualification spots for the 2027 IHF Men’s Junior World Championship by competing among the continent’s leading teams.
