Ministry of Environment Digital System Cuts Hazardous Materials and Waste Service Times by Up to 70%

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has highlighted the results of its integrated digital transformation for managing chemical materials and hazardous waste, with service completion times reduced by up to 70%.

The new system replaces conventional procedures and separate records with electronic services, government integration and unified data, strengthening monitoring, inspection and compliance. The Ministry said the system has also helped raise customer satisfaction to 93.4%.

A total of 23 electronic services are now available through the system. Since its launch, 57,699 requests related to chemical materials and hazardous waste have been processed, with service times improving by 70%.

The system has also supported 40,391 customs import clearances, contributing to a 33% reduction in average processing time. In addition, the Ministry recorded 4,097 inspection campaigns with a 90% compliance rate and reported that 131,971 tonnes of hazardous waste had been safely disposed of.

For hazardous materials services, average completion time fell from seven working days to 2.4 working days, a reduction of 66%. For hazardous waste services, the average fell from five working days to 1.5 working days, representing a 70% reduction.

The Ministry also reported the development of 19 modern inspection devices for chemical materials and the preparation of 25 guidance manuals. The next phase will focus on wider digital integration, smart risk analytics, proactive inspection and supporting the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030.
