Qatar Meteorology Department said most of Monday daytime conditions would continue to be “very hot,” with temperature in Al Khor to touch 48C.

According to the dept’s forecast, slight dust is also expected in some places in the country.

In some offshore areas, conditions may be misty but will transcend into fine conditions as the day draws to a close.

On Sunday the temperature in Al Khor was recorded at 46C with today expected to be 2C higher and touch 48C.

Doha and Abu Samra are likely to be next with a high of 47C, followed by Wakrah and Mesaieed with 44C, Dukhan with 43C and Ruwais with 40C.

Yesterday, a maximum of 47C was recorded in the Qatar University area, Abu Hamour, Sheehaniyah, Batna and Turayna, while Doha (airport area), Ghuwairiyah, Karana and Jumayliyah saw a high of 46C, Abu Samra 45C, the Hamad International Airport area and Mesaieed 44C, and Wakrah 43C.

As the heat persists, below are some tips that might come in handy:

Keep hydrated: With rising temperatures that cause more perspiration, chances of dehydration are higher.  It is therefore recommended to keep a water bottle with you wherever you are and keep sipping some water throughout the day!

Stay Indoors: As high temperatures continue, avoid unnecessary outdoor activity, particularly midday when the sun is the hottest. Try to stay in cooler, air-conditioned spaces and keep curtains or blinds drawn to prevent heat from seeping in.

Light Clothing: Wear clothes that are lightweight, light-colored, and comfortable to carry during the heat.  Wearing anything that is unfavorable in terms of heavy material may result in heat-related illnesses.

Eat Fresh, Eat Light: Having the right kind of food is super important during this weather. Opt for fresh hydrating veggies and fruits such as cucumber, carrots, lettuce, watermelon, berries, etc. Such food will give you that extra energy you think the sun drains out!
