There was more trouble for a Qatari party trying to hunt the rare Houbara Bustard in Balochistan province when Pakistani Security Forces arrested 16 members of the team at a checkpoint.

According to official sources, an advance party, going to Mashkeel for making arrangements for the hunt, ignored Levies personnel’s signal to stop at their post and tried to escape by breaking the barrier in the Galngoor area of Noshki district, reported Daily Pakistan Global.

“The security personnel chased them and detained 16 people travelling in four vehicles,” a source said.

The Levies also seized the four vehicles, adding that arrested members include three Bangladeshis and 13 Pakistanis.

There has been some resentment among local populace over the central government giving special permission and licenses to come and hunt the Houbara Bustard, a rare species whose meat is much sought after.
