The city is being built in line with Qatar’s National Vision 2030 and incorporates several state-of-the-art features into its design including sophisticated roads and organized parking spaces.
The 19 districts of Lusail City will offer residential, commercial, hospitality and retail opportunities as well as meet community needs of schools, mosques, medical, sport and entertainment facilities.

It will comprise a light rail network, a water taxi transportation system, and a cycle and pedestrian network. The city will boast green spaces across more than 30 percent of its land area.
Some parts of the city are already open and have population presence including Jabal Thuaileb, a top Qatari Diar official said.
On the sidelines of a festival, CEO of Qatari Diar Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah said that work is currently underway to finish the remaining preparations for hosting the 2022 World Cup, the most prominent of which is the opening of the commercial street and the areas of tourist attractions and vital sites, in addition to the final aesthetic touches.
Lusail City will be home to the Lusail Stadium, where the opening and final matches of the FIFA World Cup are slated to take place.
Speaking about the Lusail project, Al Attiyah mentioned that Qatari Diar has been coordinating with Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) to incorporate the highest standards in the city.

The company has relied on rationalization systems, energy efficiency and reduced consumption of resources, he said.
He further highlighted that the city of Lusail has implemented all smart systems in a bid to persevere the environment and to ensure sustainability and conservation of natural resources.
Currently, there are two petrol stations in Lusail City. By next year, it will also have two branches of Al Meera Consumer Goods Company as well as a mosque in the Marina Lusail area.
