Every Sunday, the Qatar Living content team will share their personal recommendations for everything from apps to films and brunches this week in Qatar. As a multinational group, there's a diversity of choices and preference that we hope will cater to everybody.

1. The Saturdaze Brunch at W Doha

For my pick of the week I recommend visiting the Saturdaze Brunch at W Doha. Located on the second floor of the funky hotel, this brunch features a great array of different stations including grills and seafood. Aside from the scrumptious food the vibe and atmosphere is terrific. You can sit by the open terrace while listening to your all-time favorites to the DJ’s beats till late afternoon. Unlike most brunches, the Saturdaze takes place every Saturday from 12:00 noon till 4:00 p.m. The price is less expensive than other brunches in town. For QR 275 you can enjoy an amazing Saturday afternoon, especially now that the weather is so refreshing. For more information you can call 4453-5135.

2. MIA Park Bazaar

If you've lived in Qatar for at least a short while, you have probably heard of the the super-popular MIA Park Bazaar. If you haven't, now is the time to check it out! The weekend bazaar has over a 100 stalls offering food, handmade products such as jewellery, crafts and clothing along with books and souvenirs.

However, you'll find yourself spending most of your time near the food stalls if you're a foodie like myself. I personally like to think of the bazaar as a mini food festival that serves homemade cuisines from different parts of the world. If you do visit, make sure you visit The Pie Lady - she makes amazing sweet and savory pies.

The MIA Bazaar is held weekly on Fridays (3-10 pm) & Saturdays (3-10 pm) from October to April.

3. WWE2k18 for PS4 (and also available on XBOXONE)

As a big wrestling fan, WWE2k18 is now out for consoles and I’m excited to get my hands on it. The biggest appeal of course is the roster, I love playing as the legends from the 80s and 90s. I’m trying to hold off for the collector’s edition (Cena ‘nuff Edition), but I’m pretty certain I will end up buying both. Yes, I’m that obsessive when it comes to collecting wrestling stuff! Who will I play with first? Naka-mura! clap clap clap!

4. Ten (2002)

If you think that a movie shot entirely inside a car sounds boring, then you probably haven’t seen Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami’s Ten. Nominated for the Palme d’Or at the 2002 Cannes Film Festival, Ten focuses on 10 candid conversations that provide us with glimpses of the lives and thoughts of real, modern women in Iran. Shot entirely by two cameras mounted on a dashboard, this remarkable exercise in technical simplicity exploits the car’s nature as a quasi-private space—one of the few places in Iran that was secluded enough for women to speak freely. Ten is Kiarostami’s most accomplished experimental film and serves as a perfect introduction for those who want to dive into Middle Eastern Cinema.

5. Anadoul Turkeiya’s mouthwatering shawarma

Saying that shawarma is my favourite food might be a bit of an understatement. My friends always used to hit me up with the best shawarma places in Doha, and the Turkish restaurants are my go-to favourites because of their superb quality in taste, as well as portion sizes. Mashawi Alarabi, Marmara, Turkey Central, I have tried them all, but last week I came across a new shawarma place in the Old Airport street, ‘Anadoul Turkeiya'. This has to be my recommendation for this week. The bread they use is just terrific, similar to the sort used in a quesadilla, and if you love shawarma you have to give it a try.

6. Trello.com—the perfect app for staying on schedule

This is definitely the right app for any workaholic out there who needs to keep up with what they are doing. Trello is a boarding system where you can list down what you need to do, what you are doing, and what is done on your schedule, making it easier to keep up with the things you need to do, and quantifying all the things you’ve accomplished already. As with any new application you use, there will be a bit of a learning curve, but well worth the time.

7. Isla Mexican Kitchen by Richard Sandoval

Isla Mexican Kitchen is a restaurant in The Pearl that serves delicious street food-inspired Mexican and Latin cuisine. With comfortable, casual ambiance and a live Latin band performing on Thursdays and Fridays, this is a great place to visit with friends. You have the option of enjoying your food outside with a nice view of the marina, which is especially pleasant with the weather improving. The restaurant is the brainchild of Chef Richard Sandoval, internationally renowned as the Father of Modern Mexican Cuisine. The tacos were excellent, but I personally appreciated the NY steak the most. The meat was tender and it had a noticeable Mexican twist with its special sauce. If you’re a fan of Mexican food, this place is definitely worth a try.
