We heard of the opening of a new hotel in town sometime earlier this year but never managed to make it a visit. Until of course last week when we were reminiscing a summer trip to Spain and then desperately started craving Spanish.
It took us all of 2 minutes to decide on dining at Acetie, the newest of all Spanish restaurants in the city.
A drive quick drive to West bay against the evening work traffic and we arrived in time for our reservation with growling tummy’s and serious hunger pangs.
On first glance the restaurant had a very tapas bar ambience until we were lead by our chirpy hostess to be seated in the second half of the restaurant, which is ideally the dining section.
We were lucky to be entertained by a band, as the day we chose to dine at Acetie was the first day a band was introduced at the restaurant. A glance at the drink menu to start and I opted for a glass of a classic Tempranillo.
Dinner was easy as after all our cravings we already did know what our tummies cried out for. That said we were happy when Chef Adriana walked out to say hello and assist us in choosing the right dish matching those cravings.
Dish 1: Huevos rotos con patatas, Jamon de pato y pimientos de pardon. Simply translated as potato chips with duck jamon and chilly pimentos.
Dish 2: Octupus Salad – Loved the hint of spice and the freshness of the delicious octopus
Dish 3: Marinated and Grilled Hamour on a bed of potatoes garnished with fried onions. – The fish was cooked to perfection.
Dish 4: Seafood Paella J absolutely delectable and quite possibly the most authentic and the best paella served in town.
Dish 5: Churros - Coz no Spanish meal should end without churros :P ( Don’t have a picture coz we kind OF gobbled it up as soon as it go to our table.
Overall – A 4 out of 5. The live music was good. The menu has a huge variety of meat and fish dishes suiting all palates. The food served had a few stand out dishes namely dish 2, dish 4 and dish 5.
Service: Very good as we had a Spanish waitress however I did see a few other guests struggling to order with some of the other staff.
Total Cost – 600 QR including water.
