The Social & Sport Contribution Fund (Daam) and Al Shaqab, a member of Qatar Foundation, have signed a partnership agreement in light of the 8th premier global equestrian event.

Commercial Bank CHI AL SHAQAB Presented by Longines 2021 will be organized and hosted by Al Shaqab, taking place on February 25 till 27.

The initiative aims to support the development of equestrian sports in Qatar, particularly among youths.

Moreover, the agreement falls in line with Daam’s vision of fostering impactful positive changes in the community via supporting social and sports activities while enhancing sustainable social development in alignment with the Qatar National Vision 2030 (QNV2030).

Under the guidance of the Qatar Olympic Committee, Qatar has set the foundation for becoming a global hub for sports and promoting the sports industry, which plays a major role in achieving the goals of QNV2030.

Qatar has already developed a strong track record of organizing and hosting international sporting events, starting with the 2006 Asian Games and continuing with competitions such as the IAAF World Athletics Championship.

The country firmly entrenched itself as the region’s sports capital when it won the bids for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, the 20th FINA World Masters Swimming Championship in 2023, and the 2030 Asian Games.

Created in 2013, Commercial Bank CHI Al SHAQAB Presented by Longines is one of five CHI competitions worldwide, and the first and only equestrian event of its kind in the Middle East and Asia region.

The three-day event will once again bring the world’s best riders and horses to Qatar to compete in the Olympic disciplines of Showjumping, Dressage, and Para-Dressage.

The designation of CHI (Concours Hippique International – International Equestrian Competition) is the official title awarded by the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) to international equestrian competitions comprising three or more equestrian disciplines.

The three magic letters make all the difference in the prestigious equestrian world. Organizers yearn to be awarded this title, while riders covet winning at a show of this stature.

Abdulrahman Bin Abdulatif Al Mannai, Chief Executive Officer, Social & Sport Contribution Fund, expressed his delight as a proud supporter of the prestigious international equestrian event.

“Equestrian sport truly represents Qataris, our tradition, and our culture, and this is reflected in the competitions and events undertaken by Al Shaqab, an organization passionately committed to preserving and promoting Qatar’s rich equestrian heritage,” he added.
