On D-Ring Road, the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has completed the construction of the carriageway and underpass at Fereej Al Ali Intersection, also known as Al Tadamon Intersection.
February 12, 2022, the road was reopened in the morning.

The opening will reduce travel time by 70% and improve traffic flow between the D Ring Road and the Doha Expressway, benefiting districts such as Nuaija, Al Hilal, and the Old Airport, which house significant commercial, educational, and healthcare facilities.

A highway as well as three intersections of Fereej Al Ali, Nuaija, and Lulu are included in the opening. The number of lanes in each direction has been raised from three to four, increasing the road capacity in both directions from 12,000 to 16,000 cars per hour.
As the tunnel has three lanes in each direction and can accommodate 12,000 cars per hour in both directions, the 1km Fereej Al Ali underpass will offer free flow of traffic into D Ring Road from Doha Expressway, reducing roughly 50% travel time.

Ashghal additionally built 3.5km rainwater drainage networks and restored infrastructure services like as water, electricity, drainage, and communications networks to improve efficiency in the area.
The D Ring Road Upgrade required 17,000 tonnes of steel, 100,000 tonnes of asphalt, and 105,000 m2 of concrete, as well as the excavation of 3.5 kilometers of rainwater drainage tunnels, the installation of approximately 30 kilometers of electricity networks, and the installation of 32 kilometers of infrastructure services such as drainage and communications networks.
As part of its comprehensive plan to achieve an advanced highway network that connects all areas of the country together, Eng. Yousef Al Emadi, Projects Affairs Manager, confirmed that Ashghal is keen to develop and establish an integrated road network.

He went on to say that Ashghal relied on locally accessible products, adding that 66 percent of the materials utilized were locally created, including lighting poles, cables, rebar, drainage pipes, and other items.
