You don’t have to worry too much about the language barrier

If you are coming to the Gulf region for the first time, one of the first thoughts on your mind would be how to survive without knowing Arabic.

Do not fret. If you can communicate decently well in English, you are all set. While proficiency in Arabic is a definite plus, not knowing the language is not a deal-breaker.

With each passing generation, more people in Qatar have started using English as their preferred language of communication. So lock your concerns away.

Qatar is under a blockade by neighbouring nations. But honestly, so what?

If you have been following the news, you should know that Qatar is currently under an illegal blockade by four neighbouring countries.

But once you land in Doha, you will be surprised to see how little it bothers people here. True, there was an initial period when adjusting to life under the new reality was an issue, but that is long gone.

Saudi Arabian and Emirati food products have been replaced by Turkish and Iranian ones, and air travel has gotten a wee bit longer. Other than that, life goes on.

Driving in Qatar is soon going to get faster and simpler…

If you did research on Qatar, you might have read that driving in the city is a huge stress inducer. It’s true, for now. But Qatar is a nation in transition, and things are going to get better soon.

The country is investing heavily into developing its roads. New seven-lane highways (in each direction) are being completed on an almost daily basis. The Doha Metro is also getting ready fast. All this means minor traffic on the roads.
