Qatar’s road networks are constantly evolving to bring ease and greater connectivity to the people of Qatar.
Mesaimeer Interchange, which is the first of its kind, three-level interchange in the country is accelerating toward completion.
The last three months saw the opening of the first and second underpass at the striking interchange.
Now, Qatar's Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has opened another underpass and a new bridge at this important junction.
The new 1300-meter long bridge will facilitate free flow traffic from Rawdat Al Khail Street to Industrial Area Road, Ashghal said.
The underpass, which is 450 meters long, will provide a link for motorists coming from Doha Expressway toward the Industrial Area Road and other locations.

As the new routes were opened, Ashghal Project Engineer Hassan Al Ghanim said, “New openings contribute to improving traffic especially as the temporary traffic light on there was removed, helping provide free traffic flow between Doha Expressway and E-Ring Road and Rawdat Al Khail Street with Industrial Area Road.”
The Mesaimeer Interchange will be 6.1 kilometers long and upon completion will be able to accommodate 20,000 vehicles per hour in both directions.
With nine underpasses and two main bridges, the Interchange will provide an essential link for traffic flow between six key roads - E Ring Road, Doha Expressway, Southern Doha Expressway, Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor, Industrial Area Road, and Rawdat Alkhail Street, Ashghal said.

The interchange also serves many important educational, health and commercial facilities. It will include a sophisticated intelligent transport system where surveillance cameras and a vehicle number monitor will be installed, as well as an emergency traffic system.
The Interchange will be operational by the second quarter of 2020 and will play a major role in improving the traffic movement and saving more than 60 percent of travel time.
