The Public Works Authority - Ashghal, responsible for the planning, design, procurement, construction, delivery, and asset management of all infrastructure projects and public buildings in Qatar, recently announced on their official twitter account that a pedestrian bridge will be built across Al Markhiya Street between Umm Lekhba and Madinat Khalifa North.

Additionally, an underpass will be built beneath Al Shamal Road between Umm Lekhba and Al Gharrafa. All these steps are taken to improve pedestrian movement and ensure the safety of the residents and mall customers in the area.

To facilitate the installation of the pedestrian bridge metal structure, Al Markhiya Street between Dahl Al Hamam Intersection and Umm Lekhba Interchange towards Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor and Al Shamal Rd, will be closed on Friday, June 3, 2022, from 2 a.m. to 10 a.m.

As a result of the closure, those traveling from Al Markhiya Street towards Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor through Umm Lekhba Underpass and Al Shamal Road can reach their destinations using the alternate routes in Al Khafji Street and Duhail Interchange.
