In a move to tackle the illegal practice of street vending, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) in conjunction with the Ministry of Interior (MOI), the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs (MADLSA), and the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) conducted an inspection campaign at Souq Al Haraj in the Najma area.
According to a tweet by the MoCI, a total of 104 violations were recorded against street vendors operating in this market.

The MME also mentioned in a tweet that its department of mechanical equipment was involved in the campaign jointly with the Doha Municipality's general control department and the other ministries.
The campaign focused on detecting and removing violations related to unauthorized activities, street vending as well as non-compliance with public hygiene rules, MME said.

Earlier this month, MoCI had also teamed up with Al Shahaniya Municipality and launched a joint inspection campaign against illegal vendors and those violating the provisions of public hygiene law in Al Sheehaniya.
As many as 45 violations were recorded against illegal vendors under the campaign. The violations of street vendors in these areas varied by violations of the law of public cleanliness and encroachment on state property.
The campaign come under the Ministries' joint efforts to control violations of street vendors and public cleanliness and encroachment on state property.
