Ever since the illegal siege of Qatar began, the country has been taking steps to ensure its safety and security in the region.

The country has entered into a number of defence deals with different nations across the world.

As part of the initiative, Qatar had signed a deal with the United Kingdom for purchasing Eurofighter Typhoon combat jets and Hawk advanced jet trainer aircrafts. Official production of the planes was switched on in Warton, UK, yesterday, reported Gulf Times.

The official switching on was done by Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs HE Dr Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyah.

The project, named ‘Al Dhariyat,’ is expected to modernise the fleet of fighter aircraft belonging to Qatari Amiri Air Forces and strengthen its capabilities.

Al Attiyah, who is currently on a visit to the UK, was also briefed on preparations and equipment to be adopted by a technical college to be established in Qatar.

It will play a prominent role in serving the Qatari Armed Forces and all sectors and state institutions in general, reported Qatar Tribune.

The Qatari Amiri Air Force and the British Royal Air Force had recently signed a partnership for a joint squadron which is expected to play a prominent role in protecting the Qatari airspace during the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
