Qatar’s Met Department has said that starting today, the country is likely to see the return of heavy rains, with the spell of ‘unsettled weather’ continuing until Wednesday, reported Gulf Times.

The Met department has also urged people to be extremely cautious and check weather conditions before venturing out into the sea during this period, in view of the expected conditions.

The extreme weather conditions are being predicted as a result of the passage of an upper level low pressure system.

As a result, there are chances of scattered rain inshore and offshore, which may become thundery at times in some areas. It will also be accompanied by strong wind which could reach up to 30 knots, causing rising dust and high waves up to 8 feet, reported The Peninsula.

According to the Met Department, the expected amount of rain will range between light to moderate. The temperature in Doha is expected to range from 24C to 33C on Sunday.

Rainwater removed

The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) on Saturday said its Joint Committee of Combating Rainwater Emergencies and Risks, along with rain emergency teams from various municipalities, drained out more than 1.5 million gallons of rainwater that had accumulated in different parts of the country.

The work was carried out in 375 batches.
