There are no immediate impacts of Cyclone Mekunu expected for the country, according to the Qatar Meteorology Department.

According to a translation by The Peninsula, "Department wishes to clarify that there are no immediate impacts expected from the country of the Cyclone Mekunu. The impact is indirectly affected by a medium to high altitude drag flow to the country's atmosphere in the coming days with the possibility of dust evaporation due to wind speed activity," an official tweet stated.

According to a report by the BBC, the cyclone killed at least seven people on the Yemeni island of Socotra earlier on Friday, but has now weakened to a tropical storm. Cyclone Mekunu also caused the death of a 12-year-old girl in Oman, while a second death was reported when a car drifted into a valley.
