What to expect in the desert in Qatar and how to prepare?

Temperatures can vary and are dependent on wind speed. Due to the varying temperature, it is best to dress in layers and carry an extra jacket for sudden temperature drops.

Your time in the desert can also get quite dusty, and coupled with the cold weather it is advisable to wear a hat or scarf and comfortable walking shoes. Avoid wearing jeans or fancy clothing and jewelry.

Lastly, remember to have a light meal before your desert adventure. A trip to the desert can get quite bumpy and you wouldn’t want a bad stomach! 

What should you pack?

Most tour companies provide essentials including first aid and water bottles. Remember to carry a backpack with things you cannot do without including prescription medication, eye drops, sunscreen, wet wipes and toilet paper. If you are brave enough to swim in the waters, pack your beach essentials including appropriate swimwear, a towel and a change of clothes. For overnight stays, remember to bring your toiletries, a change of clothes, extra socks and scarves.

Pick-up timings: Sunrise safari at 5:00 am, morning safari at 8:00 am and sunset safari at 2:00 pm.

(2) Relax at the Inland Sea
With a 6-hour trip in a 4x4 SUV, this offer includes a stop at the camel area, dune bashing, driving by the Singing Sand Dunes, a panoramic view stop and Inland Sea visit. This package also includes the option to swim at the Inland Sea. Pick-up and drop-off can be pre-arranged anywhere within Doha city and Sealine.

(1) Half day tour
Enjoy a 4-hour trip to the desert in a 4x4 SUV including dune bashing and a stopover at Inland Sea.

(2) Full day tour

Doha Bus 

Opt for Doha Bus and head into the desert in a one of a kind monster bus! Doha Bus provides you with the option of heading into the desert in a 4x4 SUV or monster bus. This safari season they offer you the following tours:

(1) Monster Bus tour
The tour starts at the Sealine kiosk, taking approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour, one way. It includes a brief stop at the desert camp for refreshments and photo opportunities, before heading back.
Timings: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm OR 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm

(2) Half day desert safari
The tour includes an exciting drive through the desert, a stop for refreshments and great photo opportunities before heading back.
Timings: 9:00 am – 1:00 pm OR 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm

(3) Full day desert safari with Al Majles Resort stay
The tour includes an exciting drive through the desert, a stop at Al Majles Resort where you can enjoy swimming, and camel rides and enjoy a delicious lunch or dinner before heading back.
