The Doha Metro and Lusail Tram services, which started operating a few years ago, have redefined how the country’s public travels.

Travel cards, which made commuting a lot easier for regular travelers, have now become even more user-friendly as they will now be accepted on Metrolink services.

“Your journey just got easier with metrolink!,” said the Doha Metro & Lusail Tram on its social media handles.

Travel card holders can now tap their cards, both standard and gold club, on the reader upon boarding the bus to utilize its services. However, the new option does not apply to paper tickets. 

Children over the age of five are also mandated to tap in to use the metrolink services. 

The announcement further said the metrolink QR Code and Karwa Smartcards, which were initially implemented, are still valid.
