Doha to Host MWC26 Alongside ITU Plenipotentiary Conference in November

Doha is preparing to host two major international events in the telecommunications and technology sector this November, with MWC26 Doha taking place alongside the International Telecommunication Union Plenipotentiary Conference 2026 (PP-26).

MWC26 Doha, organised by GSMA in partnership with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, will take place at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center from November 8 to 10, 2026.

The ITU Plenipotentiary Conference will be held at the same venue from November 9 to 27, 2026, hosted by the Communications Regulatory Authority.

Holding the two events at the same time and location will bring technology and policy discussions together, allowing governments, regulators, companies and experts to exchange knowledge and explore how global digital policy can connect with practical developments across the technology sector.

The arrangement will also allow PP-26 delegates to move from discussions on international policy and regulatory priorities to seeing the latest technologies, solutions and applications showcased at MWC26 Doha.

HE Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, said hosting the two events simultaneously reflects Qatar's growing role in shaping the future of global connectivity and telecommunications policy.

He said the events would also support Qatar's commitment to the Digital Agenda 2030 and Qatar National Vision 2030, with the aim of building a thriving digital economy and a sustainable digital society.

Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Musallamani, President of the Communications Regulatory Authority and President-designate of PP-26, said the two events reflect Qatar's role in shaping global connectivity and its regulatory framework.

MWC26 Doha is also expected to see the return of the GSMA Ministerial Programme, which provides a high-level platform for discussions on digital governance, investment and the next phase of connectivity development.

The previous edition of the programme brought together 60 delegations from 49 countries and 11 intergovernmental organisations.

The ITU Plenipotentiary Conference is held every four years and serves as the Union's highest policy-making body. It determines the ITU's strategic and financial direction for the coming years and conducts elections for its five senior leadership positions, as well as 48 member states to serve on the ITU Council and 12 members of the Radio Regulations Board.

MWC26 Doha follows the inaugural edition held in 2025, which attracted more than 9,000 participants from 110 countries and territories, nearly 300 speakers, and more than 250 exhibitors and sponsors. More than 30 major partnerships and initiatives were also announced during the event.
