McNair Chambers and the Italian Embassy in Qatar will jointly host the ‘Doing Business in Italy’ webinar for the benefit of the business community in Qatar and in the GCC region.

The webinar will feature leading lawyers from Italy who will talk and discuss questions related to important aspects of Italy’s legal investment regime this Wednesday, June 9.

The workshop will be introduced by HE Alessandro Prunas, Italian Ambassador to Qatar, and by Dr. Stefano Nigro, Director of the Department for Investment Attraction at the Italian Trade Agency.

Professor Guido Alpa from the Faculty of Law at the University of Rome La Sapienza will talk about arbitration law and practice, whereas a partner at Ughi e Nunziante law firm Francesca Ricci will deliver a presentation on real estate investments in Italy.

Moreover, Giuseppe Barreca, Partner at Barreca and Partners law firm, will present highlights on labor law and taxation in Italy.

HE Alessandro Prunas speaking on the upcoming event said, “We are delighted to present together with McNair Chambers this webinar focusing on how to invest in Italy, particularly at a time when Italy’s ambitious post-pandemic recovery plan can boost new business opportunities.

“Trade and investment relationship between Italy and Qatar continue to grow year after year. This initiative in partnership with McNair Chambers is in line with our continuous efforts to assist Qatari investors, institutions, and operators with practical and up-to-date information on Italian law and regulations,” he added.

Professor Khawar Qureshi QC, Head of McNair Chambers, stated that he was honored in being able to assist the Italian authorities by convening a panel of internationally renowned legal experts to discuss key legal and practical issues that investors need to be aware of when investing in Italy.

The Italian Embassy in Qatar will continue to take up initiatives that will promote bilateral relations between Qatar and Italy, as business partnership remains solid across various sectors.

Trade volume between Qatar and Italy reached €1.3bn during the first nine months of 2020, with Italian exports to Qatar at €670m, and Qatari exports to Italy valued at €630m.
