Dukhan Road beautification works between Al Wajba Interchange to Al Sheehaniya Interchange have been completed, according to Qatar's Supervisory Committee for the Beautification of Roads and Public Places.

In addition, walking and cycling routes were connected from Al Seej Area to the pedestrian path in Al Riffa Street, as well as from umm leghab to Al Sheehaniya Interchange and from there to the roundabout connecting to the Camel Racing track Area and Al Wajba Interchange. In the Al Wajba Area, trees were also planted across the road and in the median, which is 3 kilometers long. This was part of the committee's strategy to beautify various highways across the country in order to promote a healthier and more sustainable environment. This will hopefully result in increased life quality and develop the civilized scene in different areas of the country.

"One of the most important pillars of Qatar National Vision is contributing to the protection of the environment and its natural balance," said Eng. Sara Kafood, Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar.

She also stated that the country's current urbanization must be supported by the enhancement and improvement of environmental sustainability measures. As a result, the beautification of Dukhan Road contributes to an increase in green space share per capita. With a higher percentage of green space in the region, lower temperatures, and better air quality, This will act as windbreaks throughout the summer months, reducing sand and dust, while also creating an aesthetic impression.

The benefits of this project were implemented by Noof Al Enazi, Project Planning Engineer. The project included planting trees on the sides of the highway and in the Median Island with a length of 3km in Al Wajba area, passing by Al Wajba intersection, as well as planting trees on the sides of the road right after Umm Al Afaei intersection and reaching Al Sheehaniya Interchange with a length of 9km, as well as planting trees along the pedestrian and cycling paths.

The project's total length is 15,800 meters, and the beautification works can be seen as a valuable addition to the project's site. This is because Dukhan Road serves road users of Ahmed Bin Ali stadium, one of the stadiums that will host the 2022 World Cup, as well as the rest of the region's commercial and residential facilities.
