As Qatar implements the final stages of its easing of COVID-19 restrictions plan, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) has highlighted the three phases of the back-to-school program for the 2020/2021 academic year.
According to the Ministry, during the first stage (from September 1 to 3, 2020) the attendance of students in school should not exceed 30 percent of the total strength in the school.
Schools have the flexibility to organize the attendance of the students according to the number of divisions in each class level to ensure that only one-third of students attend a day.

For the second stage ( from September 6 to 17), students' attendance is to be limited to 50 percent.
Students will be divided into two groups and there will be rotational attendance. Group 1 (50 percent) will attend in-person in the first week and study by distance learning in the second week. Group 2 will study by distance learning in the first week and attend school in the second week.
Attendance for grade 12 students (66 percent) is mandatory because it is a crucial year for them, the Ministry mentioned.
The third stage to go into effect on September 20 will permit 100 percent attendance of students in schools.
Classes will resume with all precautionary measures in place, in line with the requirements of the health and safety department in MoEHE, in co-ordination with the Ministry of Public Health.
These would include social distancing to maintain the health of students and the staff.
School timings are from 7.15 am to 12.30 pm. There will be six classes of 45 minutes each per day, coupled with five-minute breaks between classes.
There will be a 25-minute break, taking into account the system of the school schedule, three different times for school break will be implemented to reduce the number of students during any break.
