Eight Qatar-made films selected for Doha Film Festival 2026

The Doha Film Festival 2026, which runs from November 19 to 27, celebrates the creativity and ambition of the local filmmaking community through the "Made in Qatar" competition, which features eight films that explore deep human experiences and family bonds, as well as the cultural memory and creative imagination of cinema.

These films reflect the diversity of stories being developed and produced in Qatar, where their creators draw inspiration from a wide range of cinematic genres and artistic styles, as well as the talent that is shaping Qatar's filmmaking scene.

The competition is judged by a special panel that includes Qatari filmmaker Sheikha Al-Jawhara Al-Thani, Lebanese actress and filmmaker Youmna Marwan, and Palestinian-Belgian filmmaker and producer Nael Khalfi, whose diverse experiences contribute to providing diverse creative insights that enrich the status of local cinema.

Fatima Hassan Al Rumaihi, CEO of the Doha Film Institute and Director of the festival, stressed that the film industry in Qatar is about providing the right environment, fostering trust, and providing opportunities for storytellers to turn their visions into cinematic works.

She pointed out that each film in the "Made in Qatar" competition represents a creative voice, a distinctive vision and a contribution to the cultural scene, stressing the commitment to supporting local talent, encouraging important and authentic stories, and providing a platform for them to connect with the audience and the international film community.

The Made in Qatar 2026 competition includes "Abu Lantern" by Amira Abu Jabara and Houria Al-Haddad, "After the Rain" by Kholoud Al-Ali, "Daim" by Maysa Al-Momen, "I Crawl to Myself" by Hamad Al-Fayhani, "Negligence" by Tony Al-Ghazal, in addition to "Depths of Silence" by Sebastien Delascasas, "Interrupted" by Yazid Al-Taqi, and "Like a Shihab" by Nadia Al-Khater.
