When visitors enter Emirgan Sutis at The Pearl Qatar, they are welcomed to a beautiful atmosphere with gentle warm lighting and a location right next to the sea. Both indoor and outdoor seating offer relaxing casual dining atmospheres.

The art, chandeliers and attire of staff all combine to deliver a subtle Ottoman vibe.

We came to sample the set iftar menus. There are two options available - one with mixed grill and another offering traditional Turkish entrees that are usually unavailable in other local Turkish restaurants.

One can have a huge iftar with starters, mains and desserts for under QAR100.

Once seated, guests are treated to a traditional Turkish Ramadan juice called sherbet - a beautiful concoction of blueberries and cinnamon. Sherbet is not particularly sweet but lightly flavored and refreshing. Our lovely waiter informed us that sherbet has been served at Turkish tables since the time of the Ottomans.

Freshly baked pillow-like Tuirkish breads are served with three appretizers: hummus, a Turkish style babaganoush and a beet root based pembe sultan dip.

For your soup, you'll have a hard choice to make between chicken noodle, lentil, and a soup of the day option. The soup of the day was yayla - a beautiful blend of yogurt, dried mint, and rice.

The yayla soup was creamy, comforting, and not at all sour as one would expect with broth being made from yogurt. It was of mildly tart taste.

The mains were incredibly unique as they were traditional Turkish dishes one would not easily find in Qatar. From the Hunkar Begendi, a delicious lamb stew served atop a creamy cheesy eggplant puree, to Izmir Kofte, a Turkish style kebab and potato stew that came accompanied with bulgur. They were fantastic!

Finally, the desserts were a true cultural treat. The kazandibi is a thick milky pudding made with chicken breast! Believe it or not, the chicken could not even be slightly detected, by taste or texture.

We were told a couple of the fresh desserts served in the iftar are imported directly from Turkey as well.

Emirgan Sutis offers a beautiful and unique Turkish experience that allows one to indulge in special treats that are entrenched in both culture and history.
