Ennismore, the fastest-growing lifestyle hospitality company behind iconic brands such as SLS, Mondrian and 25hours Hotels, has teamed up with Cinema Akil to create Onside, a unique cinema and culinary popup experience in the heart of the Msheireb district in Downtown Doha.  Open from 20^th November, Onside Doha will bring together some of Ennismore’s most iconic F&B brands in custom made food trucks serving soft and enhanced beverages, and an incredible open-air film program by independent arthouse cinema platform, Cinema Akil, to create an immersive experience under the stars. 

The immersive popup presents visitors with the perfect opportunity to take a breather, enjoy great F&B and take in the cinematic offerings from Cinema Akil in between the game schedule under the stars.

Internationally acclaimed Fi’lia celebrates honest Italian food, with a Mediterranean twist based on recipes passed down from one generation of women to the next. Diners at the alfresco pop up can expect fresh ingredients, handmade artisanal pasta, and pizza. 

Tandoor Tacos, a spin off Tandoor Tina, is a food truck that serves flaky paratha breads packed with a unique mash-up of Indian and Mexican flavours, spices and pickles. The menu will comprise of a small but perfectly formed offering of five different paratha tacos, including veggie, vegan and meat options such as the Tikka Chika: Chicken tikka jalfrezi, pickled onion, cucumber, pomegranate, coconut and coriander; or A peas yourself with Chickpeas, ginger, garlic & chili, pickled cucumber, endive and coriander 

Fi’lia Dolce is all you need to satisfy those sweet cravings. A modern Italian delicatessen and Pasticceria specializing in freshly baked pastries and cakes from Tiramisu to New York Cheesecake or sweet crepes.  

While visitors enjoy the culinary offerings, Cinema Akil will present a bespoke film program showcasing 13 award-winning feature narratives and documentaries and five short films celebrating the best cinematic works made about the sport and the human stories that fuel it. Through the celebration and presentation of football and its culture, the program aims to bring together and inspire audiences whether they are football or cinema fans.

Launched in 2014 as a nomadic cinema, Cinema Akil has held over 60 pop ups attracting more than 65,000 attendees. The first arthouse independent cinema in the GCC, Cinema Akil’s line-up includes Cannes-nominated documentary ‘Diego Maradona’ by Asif Kapadia from the UK, Berlinale-winner ‘Offside’ by Jafar Panahi from Iran and Hong Kong cult classic ‘Shaolin Soccer’. The film program has a special focus on female-led stories and films from the MENA region with half of the films directed by female directors.
