In another step meant to strengthen Qatar's defense capabilities, the country's F15-QA combat aircraft, Ababil, was unveiled at a ceremony in the United States.

The occasion marked the delivery of the fighter jets and was held in the city of St. Louis, Missouri, United States on August 26, 2021.

His Excellency Qatar's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Dr Khalid bin Mohammed Al Attiyah participated in the ceremony alongside several high-ranking officials from the US and Qatar Armed Forces.

The F-15QA combat aircraft have been manufactured under a deal signed between Qatar and the US Defense Department in June 2017. This model of the jet is the most advanced of its kind, as demonstrated through its ability to maneuver while taking off in the US airspace, earlier.

The Ababil jets feature next-generation combat aircraft technologies, including electronic flight controls, an all-glass digital cockpit, state-of-the-art sensors, advanced radar technology, and electronic warfare capabilities, further supported by digital engineering and advanced manufacturing.

Ababil will boost the Qatar Amiri Air Force’s air superiority with more advanced fighters and a greater range and payload in comparison to any other fighter.

Following its inauguration, the first batch of the fighter planes is expected to arrive in Qatar later this year once the initial training of the air crews has been completed in the US.
