The fourth edition of the Al Nahma Musical — Naham Al Khaleej — kicked off at the Katara Cultural Village on Friday.

The competition, which celebrates Qatar’s rich maritime traditions through songs — are set to continue until April 30. The winners will be crowned with the ‘Naham Al Khaleej’ prize.

“The event will see some tough competition from teams that will celebrate one of the most critical maritime arts of our ancestors who were into sailing for fishing or diving,” said Katara General Manager Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, during the event’s opening ceremony at the Katara Opera House.

“Katara has been eager to revive the musical patrimony, along with Gulf songs, and preserve their treasures. We launched numerous cultural events that focuses on the civilizational legacy. Qatar’s maritime arts share one history and common heritage with GCC states,” added Dr. Al Sulaiti.

The competition’s fourth edition delves deep into the maritime heritage associated with Al Nahma art, said the top official. Seminars and art exhibitions highlight the details of this inveterate legacy and preserve the innovations of ancestors representing unshakable bonds with the new generations.
