HH The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani will take part in the inaugural edition of the Paris Peace Forum at the invitation of the French government.
The three-day conference, which is slated to begin on November 11, is part of a drive by French President Emmanuel Macron to underline the importance of multilateralism and collective action in responding to current global challenges, reported Qatar Tribune.
HH The Amir is expected to attend the conference’s inauguration in Paris on Sunday.
The forum aims to achieve peace through better global governance and reduce international tensions through cooperation between states to face cross-boundary challenges.
It will also advocate the collective management of global common goods and better regulation of internet and communications.
The forum is set to become an annual affair that will highlight projects and ideas that contribute to better international cooperation on key global issues, fairer and more equitable globalisation, and a more effective multilateral system.
Several heads of state and prominent members of society are expected to be among the thousands of participants. Around 119 projects are expected to be presented at the event.
It is understood that HH The Amir will also participate in the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) to be held at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris. The 13th edition of IGF is set to take off on November 12.
The forum, under the theme ‘Internet of Trust,’ will discuss proposed regulatory frameworks, global trends, potential risks, and good and bad practices which have been adopted or are under discussion.
