A partnership between Gibbs Amphibians and Madaeen Al Doha Group is in the works, for the prospective supply and manufacturing of the ‘Gibbs Humdinga'. Gibbs Amphitech will be the supplier of all the products and is set to open in Qatar with the expectation to cater to the increasing global demand for their products.
The Humdinga is capable of highway speeds on land and speeds in excess of 30mph on water and can transition from water to ground in mere seconds making it a flexible amphibious vehicle concept that can be used in numerous disciplines, from logistics, rescue, leisure and police patrol. “The Humdinga is where imagination meets engineering, creating something that can broaden the definition of a vehicle. Just as the Madaeen Al Doha Group is broadening itself with this move into vehicle production.” said, Ajay Sharma, British Ambassador in Qatar.
With engineers and professional experts from the United Kingdom and New Zealand continuing to develop the concept and cultivating the technology for the High Speed Amphibian, the Humdinga is set to be the first product to launch in Qatar for Madaeen Al Doha Group.
The Humdinga is considered as a more laborious vehicle, due to its transformable capabilities. Being the first successful fully homologated vehicle in the world, it has a central position for the driver, and is designed to carry up to 9 passengers at a time as well as withstanding one tonne in payload. It has been created by engineers from various backgrounds and practices to make it a high-tech, user-friendly concept that is practical for different scenarios.
The supply for Gibbs products will not be available for the public market until 2022. Meanwhile, the preliminary phase of the project will commence, and will focus on assembling the Humdinga in collaboration with Madaeen Al Doha Group. The main objective is to be able to supply for demands globally using the contrivance and approaches of both groups. With the vehicles manufactured in Qatar, they will bear a stamp that declares so, which is a “milestone for both Qatar and the Arab world” said Mohammed Al Sada, Partner at Madaeen Al Doha Group.
Alan Gibbs, founder of Gibbs Amphitech also added that “there is a developing global demand for the Humdinga, and we are receiving high levels of interest from all kinds of customers, including governments and private individuals. This is the right time and the right opportunity to further the use of Humdinga, and I expect we will see them being widely used in many parts of the world in the near future.”
