Wishing to travel to Qatar for the historic FIFA World Cup 2022? The country has obligated the use of Hayya Card for spectators coming to watch the tournament. Citizens and residents are free to exit and enter without any restriction.
Qatari authorities have encouraged those with confirmed match tickets to apply for the card. The accommodation of travelers would also be validated during the process.
Officials in Qatar have made an important announcement making Hayya Card mandatory for all visitors to Qatar during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. Acting as a primary means of identification, the Hayya Card will operate as a multiple entry permit to Qatar for international visitors within the duration of November 2022 valid till 23 January 2023. The regulation is applicable to non-residents GCC nationals and visitors from across the globe. Good news however is that Qatari citizens or people having Qatari residency do not come under this regulation and are still free to enter and exit the country throughout the mentioned time period.
Speaking to Al-Kass TV, Saeed al-Kuwari, Executive Director of the Hayya platform at the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy categorically explained the requirements to apply for the card. According to him, the card is only being issued to those who have a ticket for the tournament at the moment. Applicants wishing to visit and return on the same day would be allowed to submit a one-day visit request for each dependent. Once accepted, it cannot be deleted and there is no option for a new request, unfortunately. The said service is currently available for all nationalities. Apart from giving the liberty to enjoy FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, holders of the card are provided with a number of benefits including a stay in the country within duration on the condition of having available accommodation.
It is important to note that Hayya Card also serves as stadium access along with the match ticket and has some advantages including free admittance to public transport. No particular dates have been given with respect to when the card will become effective and when it will end. FIFA clarified that the Hayya Card is operated by the government of Qatar and that FIFA plays no part in its application cycle, issuance, or use.
