As the novel coronavirus continues to take a toll on various countries in the region, including Oman, Kuwait, and Bahrain, Qatar has amplified its level of monitoring, detection, and preparedness to deal with the virus.

Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) affirmed that the relevant authorities in the country are on high alert to keep the infection at bay.

Amid several precautionary measures, Qatar is keeping a close eye on its entry points with advanced monitoring procedures in place.

Her Excellency the Minister of Public Health Dr Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari yesterday visited the Hamad International Airport (HIA) to review the measures adopted by the airport.

HE Dr Al Kuwari was briefed on the equipment and procedures in place at HIA to detect cases of the novel coronavirus at the earliest possible and ward off its spread between members of the society.

His Excellency the Chairman of Qatar Civil Aviation Authority Abdullah bin Nasser Turki Al Subaie joined HE Dr Al Kuwari on the visit to HIA.

HE the Minister was given an overview of the medical clinic at HIA, the monitoring and detection equipment being used by HIA officials and also informed about the preparedness of the medical staff.

During her visit, HE the Minister said that while authorities continue to cooperate with one another, all members of the society should take basic preventive measures.

Disease prevention is a shared responsibility, she mentioned.

In the wake of the virus affecting thousands of people in several countries across the world, Qatar continues to scale up its safety measures.

Recently, the country announced that it would examine all travelers from the countries, which have a noticeable increase in the outbreak of the virus through the country's different entry points including air and sea.

HE the Minister also advised the public to postpone travel plans to China, South Korea, Iran, Singapore, Japan, and Italy.

There are currently no cases of the COVID19 in Qatar, MoPH has confirmed.

The Ministry has also allocated some residential buildings equipped with required amenities to host individuals who meet the quarantine standards.

Travelers who show fever and respiratory symptoms will be transferred to Hamad Medical Corporation's Communicable Disease Center, where the necessary checks will be performed, followed by the appropriate treatment.
