Chili’s rolled out a back-to-the-further menu featuring bigger burgers, saucier steaks, and larger fajita platters and a more condensed menu. With the aim of refocusing on what they've always done best, they've axed out a large portion of the menu with better updated versions and new delectable items. Qatar Living got a chance to try out the newer items, so we can give you an insight on what's been cooking!

The new menu is noticeably thinner, but something new caught our eyes: Chili's is now sharing the calories for each dish to help you monitor your intake. This kind of transparency is a positive step for Chili’s, as many health-conscious customers will be now fully aware of how many calories are in a dish before ordering it. They have a decent variety of guilt-free options as well as more indulgent ones for you to pick from. Aside from this added benefit, the new menu itself has exciting items that will truly make your mouth water.

We started off with three different soups: the chicken enchilada soup topped with tortilla strips and cheese, which was our personal favourite. Followed by the chipotle vegetable soup with chunky garden veggies and southwestern spiced broth and finally an updated classic, the original Chili soup, inspired by the home of the original Chili's cook-off in Terlingua, Texas.

As for salad, we loved the new Santa Fe Crispers Salad, which consists of the original Chicken Crispers, pico de gallo, avocado, cilantro, tortilla chips, delicious house-made ranch dressing, and a drizzle of spicy Santa Fe sauce. The salad could be shared as an appetizer option or as a meal for one, the mixture of flavours and textures makes it super satisfying and delightful.

Now, we can’t go to Chili’s without trying the burgers. We started off with the easier new option, Chili's Chili burger which is a proper half-pound patty, crafted fresh to order, with their 1975 Original chili, shredded American cheese, sauteed onions and tortilla strips. This burger was heavenly, which was smashed on the grill to lock in flavour then put on a toasted brioche bun and served with garlic dill pickles and fries.

We also tried The Boss Burger, and we are warning you that this burger wasn't meant to be subtle, its the burger that all other burgers report to. It features five different types of meat: smoked beef bacon, smoked sausage, pulled rib meat, smoked brisket, and finally a half-pound beef patty. There is also onion rings in there as well as BBQ and ranch, and before you deem this unhealthy, there's lettuce and tomato, so we are pretty sure that cancels everything out. Come in hungry for these burgers, because they're incredibly good looking and even better tasting.

Chili's told us that it was headed back to its roots so we figured steak was gonna be somewhere on their new menu. First, we tried the new Triplet Filets, which is essentially three pieces of beef filets on a bed of scrumptious cheesy roasted jalapeño potatoes, roasted vegetables, charred peppers and onions, topped with fried shrimp and toasted mushroom - a good surf and turf combo. Secondly, we tried the Churrasco, a salsa roasted skirt steak with caramelized onions, cheesy mashed potatoes, tomato ranch, citrus sauce and topped off with heaps of crispy onions. Both options were super delicious and more friendly in the calories department - although we abandoned that department two enticing burgers ago.

We couldn't leave Chili’s without trying quesadillas. We tried the new smoked chicken quesadilla with house-smoked chicken, monetary jack cheese, sautéed bell peppers, caramelized onion and jalapeño aioli sauce. The mixture of flavours was outstanding and can be easily shared as an appetizer or as a filling meal on its own.

Of course, we saved the best for last, Desert! We couldn't leave without indulging in an old favourite, the Molten Chocolate Cake, with warm chocolate fudge filling, topped with ice cream and a crunchy chocolate shell. We also tried a new dessert, the Triple Berry Crumble Cake which was equally as satisfying and delicious, made with mixed berries baked with rich butter cake, topped with streusel and finished off with vanilla ice-cream. Chills have really outdone themselves.

If you are ever craving mouth-watering Southwestern dishes with exploding flavours, don’t look any further than Chili’s. The new menu ranges from ribs, fajitas, quesadillas, monstrous burgers, steaks, delicious and filling soups as well as speciality grills and salads. Don't forget to come in hungry and leave room for dessert!
