His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani arrived in Dushanbe, Tajikistan yesterday evening to participate in the fifth Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA).
The Qatari ruler participated in the opening session of the conference, Qatar News Agency reported a few minutes earlier.

Prior to joining the opening session, HH the Amir held official talks with the President of Tajikistan at the presidential palace, "Palace of Nations."
This is HH the Amir's first visit to the Central Asian country. The Tajikistani President welcomed HH the Amir and reiterated his country's desire to further bolster relations between Tajikistan and Qatar.

During his visit in Dushanbe, HH the Amir also met with the President of Kazakhstan. At the start of the meeting, HH the Amir congratulated Kazakhstan's President on his assumption of the presidency of Kazakhstan and expressed interest in enhancing ties between the two countries.

HH the Amir is accompanied by his delegation who were received upon arrival at Dushanbe International Airport by Tajikistan Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirodjidin Mukhriddin, Mayor of Dushanbe Rustam Emomali, Qatar's ambassador to Tajikistan Ibrahim bin Mohamed al-Abdulla, Tajikistan's deputy ambassador to Qatar, and Qatar embassy staff.
