Qatar and Italy share longstanding friendly relations, which have been consolidated through cooperation across various fields including economy, politics, defense, investment, education, sports, art, and tourism, among others.
Italy is the eighth largest trading partner and the seventh-largest supplier to Qatar, with the volume of trade exchange between the two countries exceeding €1 billion, Qatar News Agency reported.
Owing to the wise leadership of the two countries, the Qatari-Italian bond has witnessed rapid and solid growth reflected in ongoing strategic partnerships.
To take bilateral relations to new heights and serve the common interests of the two nations, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani held official talks with the Italian President Sergio Mattarella at the Amiri Diwan yesterday.

The visit stems from Qatar’s eagerness to boost external relations with brotherly nations and allies and continue to build strategic partnerships.
During the meeting, the two leaders engaged in discussions on bilateral relations and explored ways to develop them further.
They also exchanged views on several regional and international issues of mutual concern, particularly the latest developments in the Gulf region.
Their Excellencies the ministers, as well as the official delegation accompanying the Italian President, also attended the session.

President Mattarella was honored with an official reception upon his arrival at the Amiri Diwan.
Later, HH the Amir hosted a luncheon banquet for the Italian president and the delegation accompanying him at the Amiri Diwan.
Following the talks, President Mattarella, as well as members of his delegation, visited the iconic National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ). The Director of NMoQ, Her Excellency Sheikha Amna bint Abdulaziz Al Thani welcomed the Italian president and his delegation who was given a tour of the museum’s unique collections and their significance to Qatari culture and history.

The Italian President arrived in Doha on Monday. Upon arrival at Hamad International Airport, Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Qatar’s Ambassador to Italy and the Italian Ambassador to Qatar welcomed him and the accompanying Italian delegation.
