Qatar has enjoyed stable bilateral relations with South Korea for several decades.

The strong ties were strengthened even further yesterday when HH The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani oversaw the signing of multiple memorandums of understanding across numerous sectors of strategic importance, reported Gulf Times.

Sheikh Tamim, who was on his fourth official visit to South Korea, and South Korean President Moon Jae-in witnessed the signing ceremony at the Blue House, the Presidential Palace in Seoul.

One of the MoUs signed by the two countries was in the field of smart agriculture practices.

The MoU, signed between Qatar’s Ministry of Municipality and Environment and South Korea’s Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, aims to develop the smart agriculture industry, co-operate in the field of agricultural research, transfer technology, and develop eco-friendly farming technologies.

A second MoU was signed for bilateral cooperation in the land transport sector between Qatar’s Ministry of Transport and Communications and South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

A third MoU signing saw the two countries decide to work closely together in the field of fisheries and aquaculture, according to Qatar Tribune.

The country also signed several other smaller MoUs in various fields.

HH The Amir and the South Korean president also discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations in fields like energy, economy, investment, health, agriculture, education and technology, as well as cooperation in the military field, said another report in Qatar Tribune.

The South Korean president thanked Qatar’s Amir for his support to the inter-Korean peace process and for its stance in seeking to resolve the Gulf dispute through dialogue.
