Kuwait has been leading mediation efforts between Qatar and the siege nations since the early days of Gulf crisis.

The late Kuwaiti Amir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah Al Jaber Al Sabah played a prominent role in pushing for the peaceful resolution of the crisis to ensure the stability of the GCC and the wellbeing of its peoples.

Recently, a statement from Kuwait regarding the possible end of the crisis based on ‘fruitful discussions’ between the different entities has heightened hopes that the three-year dispute might be nearing an end.

The statement has been widely appreciated and welcomed by several countries, and regional as well as global organizations.

Yesterday, while speaking to the Kuwaiti Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani thanked and appreciated the Kuwaiti Amir and Kuwait’s efforts to maintain the unity of the GCC.

In the conversation, HH the Amir recognized the endeavors initiated by the late Kuwaiti Amir to end the crisis and his concern for the GCC’s solidarity and the interests of its peoples.

HH the Amir and the Kuwaiti Amir further spoke about ways to enhance relations between Qatar and Kuwait.

The two leaders also exchanged views on the latest developments in the region and the world as well as all that would enhance joint GCC action.

Earlier this week, HH the Amir Sheikh had received a message from the Amir of Kuwait thanking and appreciating HH the Amir for his efforts to resolve the GCC crisis.

The Kuwaiti Amir extended his best wishes to HH the Amir and appreciated him for Qatar’s efforts, supporting the endeavors initiated by the late Amir of Kuwait to end the rift and reach an agreement to ensure the unity, solidarity and cooperation of the GCC.
