His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani’s recent visit to the US has provided a fresh impetus to the already solid Qatar-US bond.

Earlier, Qatar News Agency had announced the signing of several agreements between the two nations that came during the visit.

To fortify strategic ties, HH the Amir also held extensive discussions with some of the top US officials as well as members of the US Congress.

The Qatari ruler met with the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Gina Haspel and her accompanying delegation, at the Amir's residence in Washington. DC.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed strategic bilateral cooperation in the field of security and spoke about ways to further enhance it.

Haspel lauded Qatar’s role in the field of counter-terrorism and for its co-operation with the US in this regard.

The meeting also highlighted the latest regional and international developments, particularly the Afghan peace talks.

HH the Amir’s accompanying delegation also participated in the meeting.

Additionally, HH the Amir met with Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, at the US Congress headquarters in Washington, DC.

The meeting reviewed the strategic bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them in different fields.

Furthermore, HH the Amir held official talks with Chairman of the Armed Services Committee of the US Senate Senator Jim Inhofe and other members of the committee at the headquarters of the US Congress in Washington, DC.

The meeting focused on strategic bilateral ties in the military, defense and security fields.

The session underlined Qatar-US efforts in counter-terrorism, where the committee acknowledged Qatar’s role in this field. The committee also thanked HH the Amir for Qatar's expansion of Al Udeid Air Base, and Qatar’s hosting of more American forces.

In other meetings, HH the Amir also held a session with Chair of the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations Senator James Risch and Vice-Chair Senator Bob Menendez, accompanied by members of the committee, at the headquarters of the US Congress in Washington, DC.

The meeting dealt with strategic bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them in different fields.

Additionally, HH the Amir met with the Chairman of the US House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Adam Schiff, followed by Chairman of the US House Committee on Foreign Affairs Eliot Engel and other members of the committee.
