The illegal siege of Qatar may be eight months old, but that has not deterred Qatar much and life has returned back to normalcy.
This could not have been made any more clearer than on Thursday, during the staging of a popular play — Shally Yseer — which is a humorous take on the illegal siege.
The play, whose name roughly translates to ‘What is Happening,’ had a royal spectator at the Qatar National Theater on that day.
HH The Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani was among the audience on Thursday. At the end of the show, he went up to the stage and congratulated the cast, amid loud applause from the audience, reported The Peninsula.

The Qatari play, a comic take on the illegal blockade, has received an unprecedented public response in the country, especially among Qatari citizens. The theatre that has been performing for 30 last days continues to be sold out on most days.
The play presents a humorous take on things happening during the siege from the four countries (Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt), beginning from the hacking of Qatar News Agency to the subsequent actions related to the diplomatic blockade.
The play also touches upon the repercussions of the blockade including the breaking up of families and punishing those sympathising with Qatar on social media and so on.
The play concludes with a song ‘Allah ya Omri Qatar’ that forms a perfect end leaving the audience enthused about their country.
