HH The Amir holds talks with EU chief on regional stability, global markets

HH The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani received European Council President Antonio Costa at the Amiri Diwan on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the leaders reviewed regional and international developments, especially in the Middle East, most notably in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, in light of ongoing escalation and humanitarian and security repercussions.

The two sides also discussed the repercussions of this escalation on regional security, particularly on the security of international navigation and the stability of global energy markets, stressing the importance of maintaining the smooth flow of energy supplies and enhancing security and stability in vital maritime routes.

The leaders also discussed ways to enhance the strategic partnership between Qatar and the European Union, emphasizing the role of Qatar as a reliable partner in supporting global energy security, including the supply of liquefied natural gas to international markets.

The two sides also discussed prospects for expanding cooperation between them, particularly in the energy, trade, and investment sectors, in order to enhance common interests.
