Following their certification as COVID-19 institutions, Hazm Mebaireek General Hospital and The Cuban Hospital have both resumed normal operations and will continue to deliver their complete spectrum of healthcare services to patients, according to Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC).

The return to normal service delivery follows a considerable drop in COVID-19 infections in Qatar in recent weeks following the virus's Omicron wave. More than 700 individuals with COVID-19 were admitted to HMC facilities during the peak of the Omicron wave, but with the recent drop in cases, this number has dropped significantly, with just about 50 patients currently admitted to hospitals. Patients with COVID-19 who require hospitalization continue to receive advanced care at HMC's Communicable Disease Center and the Field Hospital on the Hazm Mebaireek site.

Throughout the COVID-19 epidemic, Hazm Mebaireek General Hospital and The Cuban Hospital have both played critical roles in treating patients with moderate to severe COVID-19 symptoms who require hospitalization.
The commitment and expertise of the healthcare teams at these facilities have been instrumental in achieving HMC's commitment to provide high-quality specialist care to all COVID-19 patients without delay throughout the pandemic, and have contributed to Qatar having one of the lowest COVID-19 mortality rates in the world.
