The Al Wakra Pediatric Covid-19 Center has been assigned as a designated treatment facility by Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) exclusively for children with Covid-19 who need hospital admission. The facility is a part of the Al Wakra Hospital Campus.

The Pediatric Center is up to date with the most modern infrastructure and is well-equipped to provide high-quality care for pediatric patients suffering from Covid-19. There are four intensive care beds, 39 inpatient beds, and 22 beds for observation of short-stay patients. In case of full capacity occupation, the facility can increase up to 140 inpatient beds when required.

Only confirmed Covid-19 patients are supposed to be sent to the Center. The patients will be offered full evaluation to assess if they can suffice with home isolation. They will also be assessed if they require medical observation and should stay on at the hospital for a short or long term. Children exhibiting Covid-19 symptoms must first get a Covid-19 test done at a PHCC or head to one of Hamad’s four Pediatric Emergency Centers—Al Sadd, Al Rayan, Al Dayeen, or Airport branch.

The recent surge in the number of infections among the population has urged HMC to take these preparatory measures to safeguard public health and especially focus on pediatric care.
