An online appointment referral system has been made available by Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) allowing patients referred from private clinics for specialized care at HMC to request appointments online.

In light of implementing the new virtual system, HMC claimed that patients who were referred from private clinics no longer need to visit one of the corporation's facilities to submit a paper referral request for appointments.

“The implementation of this system has our patients at the heart of care. In HMC, we are always thinking of ways on how we can improve not only the services, but also the experience of our patients,” said Nasser Al Naimi, HMC’s Deputy Chief of Quality for the Center for Patient Experience and Staff Engagement and Director of Hamad Healthcare Quality Institute. He further adds, “This initiative did just that, finding ways to make it convenient for patients to submit their appointment referral online without stepping foot in HMC.”

Residents of Qatar and people living abroad can use this system. Patients will be required to enter their Health Card number and upload the referral form to access the online referral portal. They will get a confirmation message that their referral has been received and is being processed once this procedure is finished. Patients will get a call from Nesma'ak a few days later to set up an appointment date and time. Calling Nesma'ak at 16060 will allow patients to confirm their appointment.

To schedule an appointment, patients can now submit and upload their referrals online in the newly launched e-system. They can visit this link to access the appointment referral site.
