There comes a point in every car owner's life where they faced with the issue of a dead car battery.
A car battery may begin to drain for many reasons, some of which include faulty charging, extreme temperature, the lifespan of the battery itself or just leaving the battery on for a bit too long.
Regardless of facing this issue yourself, knowing how to jumpstart your dead battery may at least give you or a lucky stranger a chance to get the car to the closest workshop so that the worn-out car battery can be replaced.
If for some reason a good Samaritan passes along to help you, it is a must that at least one of you know the correct steps.

Jumpstarting a dead battery with cables or a battery charger is generally safe, quick, and easy. Although uncommon, some vehicles have their battery located in strange places (wheel well or trunk) and is something you may need to look out for.
Also, make sure you avoid using a hybrid vehicle for this process and it may drain the vehicle to the point where it cannot start.
Needless to say, you will require the jumpstarting cable which may or may not come with your vehicle, and a donor vehicle with a fully functioning battery.
Moreover, please make sure that your vehicles are in Park or Neutral before connecting the jumpstart cable.
These cables send electric current so make sure you handle them carefully while connecting them to your car batteries.
Step 1
Identify the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals on both of the vehicle batteries.
Step 2
Connect one end of the red jumper cable to the positive (+) terminal of the dead battery and one end to the positive (+) terminal of the donor vehicle.
Step 3
Connect one end of the black jumper cable to the negative (-) terminal of the donor vehicle and the other end to the bare metal on the engine or the frame of the car with the dead battery.
Step 4
Leave the battery to charge for a few minutes. If the vehicle does not start after five minutes, it would indicate that the battery is completely dead and needs to be replaced with a new one.
In the case of using a car battery charger, the steps should be essentially the same.
Furthermore, the black cable can also be connected to the negative (-) terminal of the dead battery instead of the metal. However, grounding the metal is just as easy and is safer for both vehicles.
In the case of not being able to find a donor vehicle or battery charger, there are many companies in Qatar that offer battery replacement services.
If you wish to replace your battery, you can visit almost any car workshop in the region that will offer car batteries of different grading and prices, and generally install your newly purchased car battery for free.
